Salary: £18k-£20k
Term: 6-month fixed term contract - 35 hours

Job Specification:
Our Client has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Paralegal/Case handler to join their busy
recoveries / defendant team, which forms part of the Defendant Insurance Litigation group.
This group is based in house within their insurer client at their offices in Whitstable.
This position is for a 6-month fixed term period.

Using their in-house case management system, you will efficiently run a caseload of RTA
recoveries and defendant claims. Some typical cases you will handle are credit hire claims,
uninsured loss claims and outlay recoveries claims as well as small claims and fast track
defendant work. You will be able to work proactively to settle cases in accordance with the
insurer client's SLAs and have the ability to communicate effectively with both lay and insurer
clients, keeping them informed of the progress of claims.
A key component of this role is to have the personality and confidence to provide ad hoc
advice on an informal basis to our knowledgeable insurer client case handlers.
Please note the salary on offer is dependent on experience. For experienced Paralegals/Case
handlers there is the potential to deal with Personal Injury cases.

Skills/Competencies required:
Experience in running own legal caseload and being responsible for making judgements
on liability;
A knowledge of Defendant work both in and out of the MOJ process;
An ability to deal with all aspects of recoveries claims;
Enthusiastic team player who works effectively with colleagues;
Experience of using a case management system;
Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt your style to suit the audience;
The ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines in line with SLAs;
Computer literate and able to do own typing;
Experience of dealing with insurer clients (desirable);
Law degree/LPC/CILEx or equivalent (desirable).

The Paralegal will join Defendant Insurance Litigation team based in house within their
insurer client at their offices in Whitstable.
