Food Technologist (NPD) Circa £30,000
Working as key member of the overall site development team you will lead and drive the Product Development Process from customer approval to project completion and launch.
As part of this process a key remit is to ensure that the company follows an NPD process. You are expected to communicate both internally and externally with customers and the commercial team on your project updates.
Responsible for all aspects of product development and will include cost reduction projects and product re formulations / improvements.
Part of the initial concept presentation team to the customer and then follow the product through from the prototype handover to factory launch.
The role will require flexibility in approach as you will be required to work closely with commercial, technical, engineering, purchasing and operations and production.
Responsible for arranging, collating data and communicating factory trials relevant for your allocated customers, ensuring that the product and factory process is fit for purpose.
Ensuring that all products, processes and raw materials are fit for purpose, comply with all internal standards and customer polices.
Ensure that the NPD process is followed for each product and that it follows a documented critical path.
Ensure that the factory processes proposed are robust and repeatable, and that manufacturing parameters are fully understood.
Following trials, data collection and interpretation includes shelf life, organoleptic, nutritional, cook verification, weights, pick up weights, QAS and line standards, and any concerns must be flagged.
All packaging (including SRD's) needs to be fit for purpose, checked during trials and travel tested where necessary.
Trials need to be organised in accordance to company procedures, and post launch assessment of products throughout its shelf life must also take place and be documented.
Degree qualified - ideally a BSc in a Food related subject or relevant industry experience within a similar role.
Level 3 Food Safety desirable
Level 3 HACCP desirable
Working knowledge of food manufacture processing equipment
Working knowledge of raw materials functionality
Working knowledge of retailer requirements on raw materials
