Finance Manager

6 month contract

Location: Cardiff

Salary: £32,000 pro rata

Role Summary:

Our client an independent charity requires a Finance Manager to join the team for a 6 month contract. You will manage the Finance Department, including the Retail team, providing financial services to all departments and all employees. Ensuring the management accounts are produced in an accurate and timely manner and that the statutory accounts are produced annually. To act as deputy for the Finance Director with respect to financial matters. You will have strong leadership skills

Main responsibilities:

* To line manage the Finance team and support them in carrying out their day by day tasks, ensuring that all financial transactions are carried out accurately, efficiently and within company guidelines and to develop an effective working relationship with the Finance team

* To provide, in collaboration with personnel, a comprehensive payroll processing procedure including administrating the company pension scheme, liaising with Inland Revenue and dealing with all employee queries

* Provide VAT advice to the business at large, as and when required

* Ensure that the quarterly VAT return is prepared, reconciled and submitted by the due date, this includes partial exemption calculations

* Responsible for the preparation and review of the monthly management accounts; this includes drafting and reconciling to the nominal ledger a profit and loss account, balance sheets and cash flow analysis and the production of a narrative that supports these figures

* Oversee the management of working capital in particular cash flow

* To prepare the finance related to the quarterly review of the management accounts, summary of the quarterly reforecasts and a budget overview, attending all Finance Committee meetings

* Preparing the annual budget preparation and quarterly reforecasts.

The Ideal Candidate:

* Qualified accountant desirable

* Experience of managing a finance function

* Experience of production of statutory accounts

* Charity SORP knowledge and experience desirable

* Practical working knowledge of computerised accounting packages and Microsoft Suite

* Ability to work to deadlines.
