We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Traffic Planner/Manager working for a local authority. The role primarily involves assisting with processing/implementing and permanent/temporary traffic regulation orders and associated signing and lining works. On behalf of a local authority on a fixed term contract that could potential lead to a permanent position

The Traffic Management team is responsible for the design and implementation of traffic signs and road markings, management and operation of permanent traffic signal installations, production of permanent and temporary traffic regulation orders and other minor traffic management works to improve vehicular and pedestrian flow within the county borough.

You will be expected to Contribute within the team to deliver a high quality, responsive and effective traffic management service for the Council.

You must have a previous experience and display the following experience.

Provide technical advice relating to traffic management issues to both internal and external departments/organisations, Councillors and the general public.

Manage and oversee the day to day operation and maintenance of all permanent traffic signal installations.

Offer traffic management advice relating to special events held on the highway.

Pay Rate: £13.45 per hour PAYE, 37 Hours per week Monday - Friday.

Essential for the role

HNC in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent Level 4 qualification

Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation

Experience of working in a traffic management service delivering efficient services

Strong IT skills
